# Frequently asked questions

Answers here describe **how Pelusium freight jobs are designed on-chain** (escrow, pickup, delivery, refunds). Always check what **your wallet** is signing on the deployment you use.

## If the courier already picked up, can the buyer and seller “cancel” and does the courier still get paid?

**Short answer:** After **pickup**, there is **no** on-chain **mutual cancel** like there is **before** pickup. The **courier is only paid from the freight escrow** when delivery completes **on time**. If things don’t finish that way, the freight side generally goes back to the **shipper** (who locked the escrow), after any **protocol fee**—not to the courier.

**A bit more detail:**

* **Mutual cancel** (shipper and courier agreeing to unwind) only works while the job is still **accepted but not picked up yet**. Once the courier runs **pickup**, the job is **in transit** on-chain and that cancel path is **not** available.
* After pickup, the main outcomes are: **deliver** (on time → courier gets the freight payout; **late** → courier gets **no** freight payout, remainder after fee goes to the shipper), or **overdue refund** after the **delivery deadline** passes with no delivery (freight escrow refunded to the **shipper** after the fee—not to the courier).
* Saying “buyer and seller agree to cancel” doesn’t by itself change escrow: the **shipper** is who created the job and locked the freight leg; unwinding is governed by **delivery**, **late delivery**, and **overdue refund** rules, not a separate “everyone shook hands” button after pickup.
* **Cargo** is already out of the pickup storage unit on-chain after pickup—anything beyond the contract is **coordination in-game** or between players.

For the full flow in plain language, see **[Shipping & freight jobs](/shipping)**.

## Does the 3D route planner create or change a freight job?

No. The **3D route planner** is a visual planning tool. It can help you pick systems, compare route assumptions, and copy an ordered path, but it does not lock escrow or change job state.

Use it before you create or accept a job, then confirm the real pickup SSU, drop-off SSU, cargo, payment, and timing in **[Shipping](/shipping)**. More detail: **[3D route planner](/route-planner)**.

## What are cargo mass and manual jump radius for?

**Cargo mass (kg)** is used by the route planner when calculating ship jump performance. A heavier load can change what route is realistic.

**Manual jump radius (LY)** is an override for experiments or cases where you know the max range you want to test. It only applies when **Use manual jump radius** is checked; otherwise the planner uses the selected ship and fuel.
