# 3D route planner

> Use Pelusium's map showcase to explore systems, plan jumps, and copy a route before creating or accepting freight work.

# 3D route planner

The **3D route planner** is a visual map for scouting routes before you commit to a haul. It shows the wider starfield, lets you choose a start and destination system, and draws an animated path between them when routing is available.

Use it from **More → 3D map showcase** in the Pelusium app.

<Note>
  The route planner is a planning aid. It does **not** create, accept, pick up, deliver, or cancel a **freight job**. When you are ready to put money in escrow, use **[Shipping](/shipping)**.
</Note>

## What you can do

* **Explore the map** — Rotate, pan, and zoom through the system cloud to understand distance and direction.
* **Click systems** — Click a node to fill the start system, then click another node to fill the destination. Nodes are fixed map points; you do not drag systems into new positions.
* **Search by name** — Type a start and destination system into the route card if you already know where you are going.
* **Build a route** — Pelusium draws the path, highlights the route systems, and shows the ordered system list.
* **Copy the route** — Use **Copy route** to share the exact path with a pilot, corp channel, or planning note.

## Map controls

* **Left drag** rotates the camera.
* **Right drag** pans the camera.
* **Mouse wheel / middle drag** zooms in and out.

The map recenters smoothly when you select systems or build a path. It does not force a hard zoom after routing; you can zoom manually from there. Dragging the view moves the camera only, not the systems.

## Route options

The route card has several choices:

* **Optimize: distance** — Prefer shorter total distance.
* **Optimize: fuel** — Prefer a route based on fuel use when fuel data is available.
* **Optimize: hops** — Prefer fewer jumps.
* **Ship** — Pick the ship profile used for route math.
* **Fuel** — Pick the fuel type used with that ship profile.
* **Cargo mass (kg)** — Cargo weight used in jump performance calculations. Heavier cargo can change the route a ship can make.
* **Manual jump radius (LY)** — A direct jump-radius override. It is used only when **Use manual jump radius** is checked.

If you are using real ship data, leave **Use manual jump radius** off and pick a ship and fuel. Use the manual radius when you are experimenting, testing a known max jump range, or planning with a ship profile that is not listed yet.

## Reading the result

After a route is built, Pelusium shows:

* The **optimization mode** used.
* The **ship** or manual jump setting.
* The **fuel** used for the calculation.
* The calculated **jump radius** when available.
* The total **hop count**.
* The ordered **Route** text from start to destination.

Use the route text as a planning reference. Before flying, confirm the destination, cargo, and job terms in-game and in the shipping job you are signing.

## If routing is unavailable

Sometimes the map can still show a showcase starfield while live routing is not available. In that state you can explore the visuals, but **Build route** may be unavailable or may ask you to wait for the connected catalog.

Try refreshing the page, waiting a few seconds, and checking that the systems you typed match the suggestions shown by the app. If it still does not work, see **[Troubleshooting](/troubleshooting)**.
